The Brooks Theatre in The Cleveland Play House

On July 10, 2010 Mercury Summer Stock showed its' stuff,
when a sudden blackout at about 6:40PM left us without
lights to perform onstage in The Brooks, so, borrowing the
frame from the Dear Edwina set, the Outhouse/Cornpone
Square set piece, using the rotunda as a makeshift dressing
area, moving the prop tables to the Brooks lobby, & pushing
the baby grand piano out onto The Brooks patio, we made
lemonade out of lemons and had a wonderful time, without
losing one audience member! Neither rain, sleet, snow, hail,
blackout, nor even the dark of night (we pulled our cars up on
the lawn with bright lights on and held flashlights on musician
scores) will stop Mercury Summer Stock from performing! It
certainly gives new meaning to the phrase: "The Show Must Go
On!" This snapshot was taken during the Cornpone Square-Rag
Offen the Bush scene on that evening. This is the stuff from
which great memories are made! Thanks to everyone -
onstage/offstage and in the audience for a great night!
